Scoundrel Days by A-ha
About the album Scoundrel Days
After the immense commercial success of the Norwegians' debut in 1985, everyone was awaiting their next step. This was Scoundrel Days, which was released in 1986. The recording of this album also took place in a London studio.
The A-ha continue here to explore synth-pop with a more serious approach. In the case of Scoundrel Days, it didn't have the hit singles of their first album - like Take On Me. The first single titled I've Been Losing You reached No.1 in Norway, but in other countries, it occupied lower positions. The songs were exclusively composed by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen, as the singer Morten Harket did not contribute to the composition of any song. The photo that adorns the cover belongs to Norwegian photographer Knut Bry and depicts the Haleakalā volcano in Hawaii (!)
The commercial success of the album was limited to Europe. Specifically, in Norway, it sold 100,000 copies, in Germany it reached 500,000 sales, while in France and the United Kingdom it sold 300,000 copies in each country.
