The Smashing Pumpkins are an American rock band that was formed in Chicago in 1988. Founding members are singer and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. With a characteristic dense sound, a mix of grunge and alternative rock, they achieved great success in the early '90s. Albums like "Siamese Dream" and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" defined this decade and catapulted them to international fame. Despite different members and various breaks, the band remains active and continues to create music to this day.
