The Cramps
The Cramps were an American rock and roll band formed in 1976 in New York. The band initially consisted of Lux Interior (vocals) and Poison Ivy (guitar), while over the years the lineup changed several times. The Cramps are considered pioneers of the psychobilly genre, combining elements of rockabilly, garage punk, and surf music, with intense, sometimes humorous lyrics and stage performances that seemed inspired by horror movies. The band influenced the wider punk and alternative rock movement and had numerous fans, affecting the sound and aesthetics of their era. They disbanded after the death of Lux Interior in 2009.
