Soft Machine was a British band formed in 1966 in Canterbury. They are considered pioneers of psychedelic rock and avant-garde jazz and played a significant role in the development of the Canterbury scene, which combined progressive rock with jazz fusion. Initially, the band's lineup included Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, Kevin Ayers, and David Allen. Over the years, the band's lineup experienced many changes, but Soft Machine always remained innovative and influential, achieving great success, particularly in the 1970s.
