Running Wild is a German heavy metal band, founded in 1976 in Hamburg by Rolf Kasparek. Initially, the band had influences from hard rock and heavy metal, while their style evolved into speed metal and power metal. They are known for introducing the "pirate metal" theme into their music, initially with the album "Under Jolly Roger" in 1987. Running Wild have released many albums and have gained a reputation for their theatrical live performances and pirate aesthetics. Rolf Kasparek, also known as "Rock 'n' Rolf," has been the central figure of the band throughout their career.
