About the album White Album

And what can one expect from the band that the previous year released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? Certainly not a double album of thirty flawless songs. The White Album is released on November 28, 1968, and leaves everyone speechless. The gang of four from Liverpool and their producer George Martin offer a divine gift to humanity at the minimal cost of a double album. The album comes and blows everything away.

The Beatles write songs that combine folk, pop melodies, country, ska, rock, British blues, avant-garde theater music (music hall), psychedelia, and even hard rock before it even existed (Helter Skelter). Nineteen of the thirty songs were written by the Beatles from February to April 1968 during a legendary trip of the four to India to meditate.

Of course, the album found itself at No. 1 in most countries and sold millions of copies. In the U.S., it has exceeded 12,000,000 copies, and every time it is reissued, it always occupies the charts.
