About the album It's My Life

Talk Talk released their second album in early 1984, so its two main singles had the opportunity throughout the year to make their mark on the pop/rock music scene of that year. These are - of course - the songs Such A Shame and the album's title track, It's My Life.

It's My Life as an album is one of the best and most elegant examples of synth-pop from the 1980s. The notable production of the album belongs to Tim Friese-Greene, who also helped in the composition of Dum Dum Girl, which was the third single of the album, as well as It's My Life. The majority of the songs are composed by the duo's singer, Mark Hollis (1955-2019). The album cover is a work by the Englishman James Marsh, who borrowed some elements from the painting by the artist John Everett Millais "The Boyhood of Raleigh" from 1870.

The album found success in the United Kingdom, as well as in many European countries. In the U.S., it received similar recognition as its No. 42 position on the Billboard was a notable spot for Talk Talk, a British duo just starting its journey.
