About the album About Us
The album About Us by Stories, released in 1973, represents the most significant moment for the band, mainly due to the enormous success of the single Brother Louie. The album was originally released in May 1973 without Brother Louie. After the success of the single, the company Kama Sutra re-released it, adding the track to the end of the second side, which propelled the album’s sales into the Top-30 of the Billboard. Brother Louie was a cover of the song by Hot Chocolate, whose single reached No. 1 on the American Billboard Hot 100 in August 1973.
The sound of the record lies somewhere between baroque pop and power pop, with strong influences from the Beatles. It was the last album featuring Michael Brown (a former member of the Left Banke), who left during the recording sessions.
The album remains a classic for 70s rock enthusiasts, mainly due to the distinctive raspy voice of singer Ian Lloyd.
