About the album Rock 'N Soul
Solomon Burke and his album Rock 'N Soul are unsung - to most - heroes and pioneers of the establishment known as rock 'n' roll and soul. The title says it clearly. This album does not contain any enormous hits that have endured over the years. This record is a sample of how soul music should be and how its songs should be performed.
For the record, the Rolling Stones were great admirers of Solomon Burke, and in 1965, Cry To Me was covered by them on the album Out Of Our Heads.
Seven out of the twelve songs were released as singles and made their successful journey both on the chart of black artists' hits and on the pop hits chart.
