Astro Lounge by Smash Mouth
About the album Astro Lounge
Two years after their debut, Smash Mouth returns with their second album, titled Astro Lounge. The band entrusts Eric Valentine for the production of the album for the second time. The sound of Astro Lounge moves between pop and rock music with many and intense elements of psychedelia. A ska punk approach that was present in the band's first album seems to be absent.
The first single from the album was Can't Get Enough of You Baby, which was a cover of a song by the Four Seasons from 1965. It was followed by All Star, Then The Morning Comes, and Waste. Most of the songs on the album are compositions by Greg Camp, the band's guitarist and singer.
With Astro Lounge, Smash Mouth managed to gain the appreciation of both the audience and the critics. The album reached No.6 on the Billboard chart, and its sales in the U.S. exceeded 3,000,000.
