Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
About the album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake
The third album by the British band Small Faces was released in 1968, a time characterized by psychedelia, and it is evident in each of the twelve songs that the Small Faces do not escape this musical trend that prevails in the United Kingdom as well as across the Atlantic.
The recordings of Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake lasted about five months at the Olympic Studios in London. The album was produced by two members of the Small Faces, Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane. The first single of the record was Lazy Sunday, which reached No. 2 in the UK. The second side of the record essentially consists of a suite divided into six parts. The suite features a protagonist boy named Happiness Stan - which is also the title of the first song of the suite - who is searching to find the other half of the moon (!)
Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake reached No. 2 in the UK, where it sold 100,000 copies. In contrast, in the USA, the album was limited to the 159th position on the Billboard chart.
