About the album Planeta Eskoria

Planeta Eskoria is the fourth studio album by the Spanish ska punk band Ska-P. It is considered one of the most important and socially-conscious albums of the European ska scene. It was released on May 30, 2000, by the RCA label.

The recording of Planeta Eskoria took place in 2000 at the RED LED studios in Madrid, Spain. The album is characterized by an explosive combination of ska punk and punk rock, with fast tempos, intense use of brass instruments, and energy reminiscent of live performances. The band once again uses their music as a means of social and political protest. The themes of the songs include issues of abuse of power and police violence, religion and the Church, racism, etc. The album cover is particularly provocative and carries a strong political message: Themis is depicted crucified, but not on a Christian cross. The Dollar Symbol ($) is the "cross" on which Justice is nailed, implying that justice is sacrificed on the altar of capital. Above the head of Justice, instead of the inscription INRI, the initials FMI (Fondo Monetario Internacional) are written, which is the Spanish abbreviation for the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The album was highly successful in Spain and Latin America, while it solidified the popularity of Ska-P in Europe (mainly in France, Italy, and Germany). It went gold in Spain, continuing the upward trajectory that had begun with Eurosis two years earlier.
