Eurosis by Ska-P
About the album Eurosis
Eurosis was released on April 28, 1998, and is the third album by Ska-P, a band that defined the Spanish rock and ska-punk scene. Its musical style combines the speed of punk with the rhythms of ska, embellished with brass instruments and intense political lyrics.
The recording took place at Eurosonic Studios in Madrid during 1998, with the production highlighting the band's most mature and cohesive sound up to that point. The cover is iconic and provocative: it depicts a deck of cards where the symbols have been replaced with weapons, money, and symbols of power, with the euro dominating, reflecting the album's theme on Europe's economic union. The compositions and lyrics were penned by the band members, with Pipi and Pulpul leading the creative process. Eurosis transformed Ska-P into a global phenomenon, proving that punk with Spanish lyrics could fill stadiums around the world, from Latin America to the rest of Europe.
The success of Eurosis was enormous, surpassing the borders of Spain. It became a gold record with sales exceeding 50,000 copies almost immediately.
