About the album In The Eye Of The Storm
The album In the Eye of the Storm was released in October 1984 - although its recording began in 1983 - and represents the first solo endeavor of Roger Hodgson, the iconic voice of Supertramp, following his departure from the band. Hodgson wrote, orchestrated, and produced the entire album. In fact, he played almost all the instruments himself, with the help of a few musicians, such as Michael Shrieve on drums and Jimmy Johnson on bass.
The album was recorded at Unicorn Studios in Nevada City, California. The mixing was done at the famous Power Station Studios in New York. Some tracks, such as Hooked On A Problem and Only Because Of You, were initially written for the Supertramp album ...Famous Last Words..., but were ultimately not used then. The lyrics of the album's songs reflect Hodgson's personal situation at the time (departure from the band, fatherhood), as well as concerns about socio-political issues, such as pollution and international tensions.
The first single, Had A Dream (Sleeping With The Enemy), reached No. 48 on the Billboard. Another song that stood out was the second single, In Jeopardy. The album sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide and went platinum in Canada within a month.
