About the album Republica

The British band Republica appeared on their country's music scene in 1994, but their debut, titled with the name of the group, was released in 1996. The recordings of the album took place at Milo Studios and The Workhouse Studios in London. Its musical style was a blend of electronica, dance, alternative, and electronic rock to the point where some invented the term "technopop punk rock" to describe their music.

The soul and driving force of Republica was Saffron, who was the frontwoman and singer, as well as the main composer of what is heard on the debut. The album immediately became a success in the United Kingdom, but also in other European countries. The album's success was supported by the singles "Ready To Go" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous." This did not mean that the album would disappoint anyone as a whole if they bought it.

The album sales reached 100,000 copies in the United Kingdom and it managed to reach No. 4 in their country. In the U.S., things were different as the 1543rd position on the Billboard was the best it could achieve.
