About the album This Fire

Paula Cole composes and produces by herself her second album within two weeks in various studios in New York, and even in her own apartment. This Fire was released in October 1996 and almost immediately - at least in the United States - became one of the biggest hits of its release year and not just that, as public interest in Paula Cole and her compositions continued into the next year. Paula Cole was the quintessential example of an artist who appears out of nowhere, makes a striking impact for a short period, and then returns to anonymity, leaving an admirable and quality mark for just a moment.

The big success of the album was its single Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?, which reached the Top-10 in the U.S., Canada, and several other countries. In general, the album, which stood out for its very good pop/rock compositions, received very favorable comments from critics and other artists and it was no coincidence that it was nominated for seven different Grammy awards, winning the one for "Best New Artist".

This Fire reached No.20 on the Billboard chart and its sales in the U.S. exceeded 2,000,000 copies.
