About the album There Goes Rhymin' Simon

In 1973, Paul Simon found himself one step behind the top of the Billboard as There Goes Rhymin' Simon halted at No. 2 on the Billboard, since the obstacle for America's No. 1 was British George Harrison's Living In The Material World. Undoubtedly, this particular album played a decisive role in Paul Simon's solo career. There Goes Rhymin' Simon confirmed that he is one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.

The recordings of the album took place from September 1972 to January 1973. Songs like Kodachrome or Take Me to The Mardi Gras built Paul Simon's legend in the 1970s—simple songs with a clear pop/rock style, yet finding their grandeur within their simplicity. Of the ten songs on the album, six (!) were promoted as singles from May 1973 to the end of the year. The first single of the album was Kodachrome, which was not released as a single in Britain as radio stations refused to play it since it was considered an indirect advertisement for the photographic film and camera company Kodak.

Sales of There Goes Rhymin' Simon in the United States have now exceeded 1,000,000 copies and it is considered one of the classic albums of its creator.
