Labour Of Lust by Nick Lowe
About the album Labour Of Lust
Labour Of Lust from 1979 is the second solo album of the English songwriter Nick Lowe, who with this record becomes one of the most interesting new faces of the British music scene, a new artist who knows how to balance between rock and pop and create excellent examples of power pop, such as this particular album.
The compositions belong - with few exceptions - to Nick Lowe himself, who is also in charge of the album's production. Undoubtedly, the big hit of the record was its second single, Cruel To Be Kind, which was his big success in the United States. The first single was Cracking Up, which was covered many years later by American Tom Petty with his band the Heartbreakers.
Labour Of Lust reached No. 43 in the United Kingdom, while in the U.S. it reached No. 31 on the Billboard chart. Impressive were the 50,000 copies sold in Canada.
