About the album Subway Serenade

The Looking Glass will release their second and final album titled Subway Serenade in June 1973. The quartet from New Jersey presents here a series of pop & rock songs that move in the same musical style as their first record.

Subway Serenade did not have the success that their debut had. The song that stood out from the second album was the opening track Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne, whose single reached No. 33 on the Billboard and which briefly came back into the spotlight through Josie Cotton's cover in 1984. The second single was Sweet Somethin'. The album was recorded at Atlantic Studios and produced by Arif Mardin.

Immediately after the album's release, singer Elliot Lurie left the band to pursue a solo career, and the three remaining members decided to change their name, collaborating with Michael Lee Smith (vocals) and Brendan Harkin (guitar). They were named Starz and adopted a more hard rock style.
