About the album Velociraptor!
The fourth studio album by the British band Kasabian was released in September 2011. Its title is Velociraptor! and it marks a clear shift of the band towards electronic music without abandoning the rock style in their compositions. It seems that the band's singer and composer, Serge Pizzorno, has opened the door to neo-psychedelia with this record. On the other hand, the band collaborates with the London Metropolitan Orchestra on four songs (!). Velociraptor! has been described as one of Kasabian's most experimental albums in terms of its musical style.
The album's recordings lasted from November 2010 to March 2011. The album was produced by the American producer Dan the Automator along with Pizzorno. The first single from the album was Days Are Forgotten, in which many - rightfully - found musical similarities with Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.
Velociraptor! became the third consecutive Kasabian album to reach the top of the UK charts. Their fellow countrymen, by purchasing 600,000 copies of it, made it double platinum in their country. The album also resonated in many other European countries, as well as in Australia, where it reached No. 8.
