The Return Of The Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai
About the album The Return Of The Space Cowboy
Jamiroquai's second album finds them with a different member. Drummer Nick Van Gelder was replaced by Derrick McKenzie. The Return Of The Space Cowboy was released in October 1994 and seemed like the natural continuation of Jamiroquai's debut sound. The only noticeable difference is that here the acid jazz compositions are slightly more complex compared to those of the first album.
The recording and creation of the second album was an adventure as Jay Kay - the main composer of the group - initially felt like he was losing his inspiration, something that was exacerbated by his increasing use of drugs. At first, whatever the others presented to him in musical proposals did not satisfy him. Eventually, Jay Kay and his group managed to find a way to compose and record The Return Of The Space Cowboy. From the album, songs like Light Years and Space Boy stood out.
The album was a success in Britain and other European countries, such as France. Its sales are estimated at around 900,000 internationally.
