About the album Lungs
Florence Welch and her musical company, The Machine, released their debut titled Lungs in July 2009. Lungs consists of recordings made in various studios in London from 2007 to early 2009. The British Florence + The Machine impress in their homeland with the indie rock/pop sound of their compositions, while art pop is also strongly present. Naturally, Welch's ethereal voice also draws significant attention. Their album will cause a sensation among fans of this particular musical style.
Lungs was supported by six singles. The most commercially successful in the UK chart was the single You've Got The Love, which reached No. 5. Of decisive importance was the collaboration of Florence + The Machine with Welch's composer and childhood friend, Isabella Summers, who participated in the composition of some songs. In order to complete the album, the band collaborated with five different producers. The promotion of Lungs was supported by a worldwide tour lasting three years (!)
The sales of Lungs led it to become six times platinum in the United Kingdom, while globally the album has sold 3,000,000 copies. Significant sales were achieved in Australia and Germany, while it also found success in the U.S. Rightfully, Lungs was nominated and won the award for the best British album of the year at the Brit Awards.
