About the album Broadcast

The Londoners Cutting Crew recorded their first album in the first half of 1986 in various studios primarily in London, but also in New York. Broadcast was released in November 1986 and immediately brought success to this newly-emerged band. Cutting Crew's sound had one foot in pop & rock and the other in new wave.

Undoubtedly, the album's success was based on the success of the first single, (I Just) Died In Your Arms, which having been released since July 1986 paved the way for the entire album—especially in the U.S. The initial release of the album was only for the United Kingdom, but after the success of the single, Broadcast was released worldwide.

Paradoxically, Broadcast reached No16 on Billboard, sold 500,000 copies in the U.S., and the band was among the nominees for a Grammy award for best new artist. In the United Kingdom, the album only reached No41. This was more to do with the negative reviews the album received from British music critics.
