About the album Turnstiles

In May 1976, Billy Joel released Turnstiles, an album that began being created in mid-1975 until January 1976. The truth is that Billy Joel had to re-record it as he was not satisfied with Elton John's band, which initially recorded the album with Joel. Eventually, the album was recorded with the help of the artist's band.

Turnstiles is the album that the artist recorded wanting to “celebrate” his return to his hometown, New York, after being absent for several years, which he had spent in California. That's how Say Goodbye To Hollywood, the third single of the album and one of the best songs of his career, came about. The production of the album is by Billy Joel himself.

Initially, Turnstiles was a commercial failure in the U.S. as it reached the 122nd position on Billboard. However, the album's value was recognized, and the sales it achieved have made it gold in the U.S.
