Mar Dulce by Bajofondo
About the album Mar Dulce
The musical group named Bajofondo is actually a collaboration between Argentine and Uruguayan artists, who from time to time meet and compose together with tango as their common base, which they present through an electronic perspective.
Thus, in 2007, the group's second work titled Mar Dulce was released. The main protagonists of the album were Argentine composer Gustavo Santaolalla and Uruguayan Juan Campodónico, who collaborated and composed the sixteen tracks of the album. The musical style of the album was based on tango, but at some points, we can even talk about tango fusion.
In the album Mar Dulce, the contribution of many other musicians and singers was significant. Among the standout names are Argentine Gustavo Cerati of Soda Stereo, Englishman Elvis Costello (!), Spaniard Mala Rodríguez, Japanese accordionist Ryōta Komatsu (!), and many others. All these international collaborations came about as Gustavo Santaolalla wanted to give the entire work a cosmopolitan air. The album's great success was the single El Mareo, while the instrumental Pa' Bailar also achieved international success.
