Voivod
Group
Voivod is a Canadian progressive thrash metal band formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec. The band was created by Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (guitar), Michel "Away" Langevin (drums), Jean-Yves "Blacky" Thériault (bass), and Denis "Snake" Bélanger (vocals). Voivod became known for their innovative sound, combining elements of heavy metal with progressive rock influences, as well as for the futuristic and science fiction-themed lyrical content. Their 1989 album "Nothingface" established them on the international scene, and they continued to experiment with their sound through various lineup changes and adaptations to musical trends. Despite challenges, such as the death of "Piggy" in 2005, Voivod remain active and continue to release music and tour worldwide.
