The Ventures is an American instrumental rock band, formed in 1958 in Tacoma, Washington. The band initially consisted of Don Wilson and Bob Bogle, who later added regular members such as Nokie Edwards, Mel Taylor, and others. They are widely known for their hit "Walk, Don't Run" and are considered pioneers of surf rock, influencing not only the United States but also worldwide. Their music is characterized by their distinctive guitar sound and innovative use of electronic effects. The Ventures were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
