The Modern Lovers
Group
The Modern Lovers were an American rock band formed in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. The main singer and guitarist of the band was Jonathan Richman, while other members included keyboardist Jerry Harrison, bassist Ernie Brooks, and drummer David Robinson. The band became known for its pioneering sound that was a precursor to punk rock and new wave music. The album "The Modern Lovers," released in 1976, contained classic tracks such as "Roadrunner" and "Pablo Picasso," and is considered highly influential for the forthcoming punk and alternative rock scene. After the original band disbanded, Richman formed Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers.
