The Lovin' Spoonful was an American rock band that became popular in the 1960s with a series of hits that combined elements of rock and roll, folk, and blues. They were formed in 1965 in New York by John Sebastian, Zal Yanovsky, Steve Boone, and Joe Butler. Their music is characterized by lively melodies and a summery vibe, with well-known songs such as "Do You Believe in Magic," "Summer in the City," and "Daydream." They have been recognized as pioneers in the folk rock movement and in 2000 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
