The Dictators are an American rock band that formed in New York City in 1973. With a sound that combines elements of punk, rock, and primal garage rock, the Dictators are considered pioneers of the American punk movement. The original lineup included Andy Shernoff, Ross "The Boss" Friedman, Scott "Top Ten" Kempner, Stu Boy King, and Handsome Dick Manitoba. Their debut album, "The Dictators Go Girl Crazy!" was released in 1975. Despite limited commercial success, the influence and pioneering style of the band have made it a legendary name in the rock scene.
