The Band

The Band

Group

The Band was a Canadian-American rock band formed in 1967. It initially consisted of Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, and Garth Hudson. They are widely regarded as pioneers of alternative Americana and rock. Initially, they worked as a backing band for Bob Dylan and later emerged as an independent band, releasing albums such as "Music from Big Pink" and "The Band". Their work influenced many other artists, and their song "The Weight" is particularly well-known. They disbanded in 1976 with a farewell concert captured in "The Last Waltz" by Martin Scorsese, but reunited several times in the following years.
