The Animals were a British rock band from Newcastle that was formed in 1962. They are known for their blend of blues, rock, and folk influences, as well as the distinctive deep voice of lead singer Eric Burdon. They achieved great success with the song "The House of the Rising Sun" in 1964, which became an international hit and defined the sound of the band with its powerful performances and hard rock elements. The Animals became an integral part of the British Invasion of the United States and continue to influence artists to this day.
