Spirit was an American rock band formed in 1967 in Los Angeles, California. The original lineup included Randy California (guitar, vocals), Ed Cassidy (drums), John Locke (keyboards), Jay Ferguson (vocals, percussion), and Mark Andes (bass). The band is known for its pioneering approach to rock music, combining various styles such as jazz, psychedelia, and classical music. Their biggest success, "Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus," was released in 1970 and remains a favorite album of many fans. The band continued to create records until the early 1980s, while member Ed Cassidy remained active until his death in 2012.
