Rick Derringer is an American rock guitarist, songwriter, and producer, best known for his classic song "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo." Born on August 5, 1947, in Celina, Ohio, he began his music career with the band The McCoys, who released the hit "Hang On Sloopy" in 1965 when Derringer was just 17 years old. Later, he collaborated with artists such as Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, and Steely Dan. His guitar prowess and songwriting ability established him as an important figure in the rock music scene.
