Marty Balin was an American singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member and lead singer of the rock band Jefferson Airplane. Born on January 30, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he collaborated with the band on many of their greatest hits in the 1960s, such as "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit." In addition to his work with Jefferson Airplane, Balin also had a solo career, releasing several albums and songs. His unique voice and contribution to the San Francisco music scene made him an important figure in the rock music movement of the era. He passed away on September 27, 2018, at the age of 76.
