Guru, also known as Keith Edward Elam, was a distinguished American rapper and member of the legendary hip-hop group Gang Starr, along with DJ Premier. Born on July 17, 1961, in Boston, Massachusetts, he emerged as one of the pioneers of instrumental hip-hop, blending jazz elements with hip-hop in his unique sound. Known for his distinctive voice and insightful lyrics, Guru also released a series of solo albums under the title "Jazzmatazz," where he collaborated with various renowned musicians from jazz, soul, and reggae. His influence on the hip-hop scene was immense, leaving a legacy until his untimely death on April 19, 2010.
