Boogie Down Productions
Group
Boogie Down Productions was an influential hip hop group from the Bronx, New York, founded in the mid-1980s. The group was initially formed by DJ Scott La Rock and rapper KRS-One and was known for its socially conscious lyrics and influence on political rap. Their debut album, "Criminal Minded" (1987), is considered a landmark in hip hop music, bringing to the forefront issues such as racism, violence, and social inequalities. After the tragic death of Scott La Rock in 1987, KRS-One continued the group's work with various collaborators, keeping alive the vision of highlighting important social issues through music. Despite changes in its lineup, Boogie Down Productions remained a strong force of influence and evolution in hip hop until the end of their journey in the early 1990s.
