Blue Cheer was an American rock band formed in 1966 in San Francisco, California. They are considered important pioneers of heavy metal music, with influences from psychedelic rock, blues-rock, and garage music. Their most famous album, "Vincebus Eruptum," was released in 1968 and includes the hit "Summertime Blues." The band's members were Dickie Peterson (bass, vocals), Leigh Stephens (guitar), and Paul Whaley (drums). Blue Cheer are regarded as pioneers of the hard sound and paved the way for many future heavy metal bands. The band continues to have an influence and maintain loyal fans to this day.
