Bathory
Group
Bathory was a Swedish heavy metal band, founded in 1983 by Thomas "Quorthon" Forsberg. They are considered pioneers of black metal and Viking metal. The band took its name from the historical figure Erzsébet Báthory. Their style was influenced by extreme music, with lyrics often concerning Satanism, violence, and Viking mythology. Although initially the band was not particularly well-known, over time their albums gained great fame and influence in the metal scene. Quorthon was the central figure of the band, playing the most significant role in the composition, recording, and performance of their music, until his death in 2004.
