Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
About the album Dig Your Own Hole
The Chemical Brothers with their second album—and playing their big beat—flatten everything in their path. The album starts with the absolute hit Block Rockin' Beats and closes with the completely psychedelic The Private Psychedelic Reel, lasting nine minutes. Dig Your Own Hole established them just before the end of the '90s as one of the biggest names in breakbeat and extreme electronica.
After their successful debut in 1995, The Chemical Brothers moved to Virgin Records. Before the release of their second album, they released the EP Loops of Fury, just to keep the public's attention before the storm of Dig Your Own Hole broke out in 1997. One of the most "peculiar" collaborations on the British scene at that time was the joint composition of the song Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers and Noel Gallagher of Oasis (!). This particular single went straight to No. 1 in the UK upon its release.
The album went platinum in the UK, surpassing 300,000 copies sold, and it was also a success in the United States of America, as well as in many other European countries.
