Hello! by Status Quo
About the album Hello!
The album Hello! by Status Quo is considered one of the most important milestones in the history of British rock, as it established the band's characteristic "boogie" sound. It was the sixth studio album by Status Quo and was released on September 28, 1973, by Vertigo Records.
The album marks the complete departure from the psychedelia of the '60s, adopting the style that made them famous, namely Boogie Rock and Hard Rock with strong doses of Blues Rock. The musical style of the album is characterized by simple but rhythmic beats and strong guitars. The songs were mainly written by the band members and their regular collaborator Bob Young. The only single released from the album was the iconic Caroline, which reached No. 5 in the United Kingdom. Other classic tracks that were not released as singles at the time but became staples in their concerts are Roll Over Lay Down and the epic Forty-Five Hundred Times, which approaches ten minutes in length (!)
Hello! was the band's first album to reach No. 1 on the UK charts.
