About the album Born To Die
Born in New York, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, known as Lana Del Rey, created her own little myth in 2012 with her second album titled "Born To Die." From the album cover alone, Lana Del Rey manages to convey the aesthetics of 1950s and 1960s America. The compositions are slow, dark, melancholic, and unpredictable. Lana Del Rey's interpretation seems detached from the lyrics, yet entirely within them at the same time. This atmosphere stems from the personal experiences she had during her teenage years when she delved deeply into alcohol.
Musically, "Born To Die" combines elements from trip hop, baroque pop, and orchestral pop. Many producers supported her compositions, but Emile Haynie was the main one who took care of the sound for almost all the songs.
The album has sold 7,000,000 copies worldwide. From the day of its release until 2023, it has completed 500 weeks in the Top-200 of the Billboard (!)
