About the album Who Else!
The album Who Else! by Jeff Beck, released in March 1999, marked the return of the renowned guitarist after ten years of absence from the studio. Who Else! was Beck's seventh studio album. Its sound was a bold shift, as Beck incorporated electronic and techno elements into his sound for the first time. His style combines familiar instrumental rock and jazz fusion with industrial rhythms and "loops," creating an experimental result that strongly resembles the aesthetic of Prodigy.
His main collaborator was guitarist Jennifer Batten, who participated as a composer and arranger, adding a modern dimension to the arrangements. In the piece Declan, Beck experiments with Celtic sounds, while Brush With The Blues is a live recording that highlights his classic blues virtuosity. The album cover captures Beck's "idiosyncratic" personality: on the front, he appears devotedly studying his guitar, while on the back cover he is depicted sleeping in a public place.
Commercially, the album had moderate success, reaching No. 99 on the Billboard 200. Its estimated global sales amount to approximately 86,300 copies.
