A New World Record was the sixth album by E.L.O. Its sound differs from the previous records as the sound of the orchestra and the choral sections dominate all the songs.
With A New World Record, E.L.O. managed to achieve success in their homeland, Britain (No6), while in the USA it reached No5 on the Billboard.
The following year, four songs from the album were featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Joyride".
