Urban Species is an English hip-hop group formed in 1992 in London. Its founders are the producers and rappers Ayub (MC Mintos) and Peter Butcher. Their music combines hip-hop, soul, funk, and reggae influences, while their lyrics often touch on social and political issues. Their debut album, "Listen," was released in 1994 and includes collaborations with the actress and singer MC Solaar and Imam. The album achieved success thanks to its pioneering sound and message. Their next album, "Blanket," was released in 1998 and confirmed their position in the British music scene.
