Thelonious Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer, born on October 10, 1917, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He is considered one of the giants of jazz music, known for his unique piano playing and his pioneering approach to composition. His compositions, such as "Round Midnight," "Blue Monk," and "Straight, No Chaser," have become classics in the jazz world. Monk was distinguished for his eccentric personal style and his quirky live performances. Despite the challenges in his career, which included financial difficulties and personal issues, Monk gained the recognition he deserved and influenced countless musicians. He passed away on February 17, 1982, in New Jersey.
