The Strokes are an American rock band that was formed in New York City in 1998. The members of the original lineup are Julian Casablancas (vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass), and Fabrizio Moretti (drums). They released their first album, "Is This It," in 2001, which received a warm reception and defined the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. The band is known for its spontaneous sound and retro aesthetic, while significantly contributing to the alternative rock music scene.
