Texas is a Scottish alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Glasgow. The band was founded by Johnny McElhone (bass) and Sharleen Spiteri (vocals, guitar). They became known with the album "Southside" in 1989, featuring the hit single "I Don't Want a Lover". Over the years, they developed a style that combines elements of pop, rock, and soul, gaining international recognition with records such as "White on Blonde" and "The Hush". Spiteri is known for her distinctive voice and versatile stage presence. Texas continues to experiment musically and maintains a large global fan base.
