Sam Cooke was a famous American singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur, known as one of the most influential figures in soul music. Born on January 22, 1931, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, he began his career singing gospel music and became known as a member of The Soul Stirrers. As a solo artist, he achieved huge success with songs like "You Send Me," "A Change Is Gonna Come," "Cupid," and "Wonderful World." Beyond his musical talents, Sam Cooke was a pioneer in promoting artists' rights and independence in the recording industry. Unfortunately, his life ended prematurely when he was murdered on December 11, 1964.
