Iron Butterfly is an American rock band formed in 1966 in San Diego, California. They are best known for the song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which features one of the most iconic drum solos in rock music history. The album "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," released in 1968, achieved tremendous success and was certified with multiple platinum awards. Their distinctive sound combines elements of psychedelia, rock, and early heavy metal, making them pioneers in the creation of the genre. Mainly active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Iron Butterfly influenced the music scene and continue to have an impact on artists in the genre.
